Making the Blade and the Runner

January 1, 2007

A video would have to be pretty impressive for me to sit and watch it on Google Video for forty minutes. This one is. On the Edge of Bladerunner is a making-of doc produced by BBC 4 back I-don’t-know-when. It’s got new interviews with Ridley Scott, craftsmen from every part of the crew and members of the cast, and a bittersweet vibe that’s not just the self-congratulatory back-patting you might expect from something like this. Plus, it includes the cut scene where Deckard interviews Holden in a weird, white hospital sarcophagus before going off to chase the replicants. (I’d read about that scene before, but this is the only place I know to see it unless it appears on this year’s super-deluxe Blade Runner DVD set.)

You’re like me, you love Blade Runner. Go watch.
